Connection & Communication – This module focuses on cultivating compassion and empathy through active listening, reflection and connection.

30 March 2021 By John

Provincial Peer Support Worker Training Curriculum (16 modules)

In this module we will look beyond a simple communication guideline that focuses only on body language, and paraphrasing. Alternatively, we will focus on cultivating compassion and empathy, listening deeply to understand, and asking powerful questions to increase reflection and connection. We will weave in content from previous modules around worldview, self-determination, cultural humility, co-creation of boundaries, and creating safety in connection. We will look at what to do when disconnection happens, and how to reduce the fear and shame that can come with disconnection and conflict. As human beings we aren’t perfect, and disconnection is bound to happen at some point in all of our relationships. Shifting our mindset to look at those instances as opportunities to connect on a deeper level is an antidote to disconnection.
